Competitive leagues

MINOR, ages 9-10:
First competitive level. Basic high school rules except:

a) 6-minute quarters
b) no 3-point shots
c) 12-foot free throws
d) backcourt pressing allowed only on continuous play (not on throw-ins after dead balls or
made baskets); all types of pressing (even on throw-ins) IS allowed during the final minute of
the game or any overtime period.

Also, CGBL must-sit, must-play, and six-player-minimum rules apply. CGBL
"foot-in-the-paint" (with 20-point lead in second half) rule applies during regular season but
not during post-season tournament.

All minor teams play at same regular-season level. Post-season tournaments are divided
into A and B divisions based on regular-season records.

INTERMEDIATE, ages 11-12:
Basic high school rules except: a) 6-minute quarters and b) no 3-point shots.

Also, CGBL must-sit, must-play, and six-player-minimum rules apply.

Intermediate teams are divided into A and B divisions:

Average-skilled and better players are placed in the (A) Division, and low-average-skilled
and novice players placed in the (B) Division.  League rules do require a small number of A
teams but association directors are expected to fairly place teams so that "true" B teams will
not be disadvantaged. The league occasionally reassigns teams during the season or
before the tournament for competitive balance. CGBL "foot-in-the-paint" (with 20-point lead
in second half) rule applies to the B division during regular season but not during
post-season tournament.

JUNIOR, ages 13-14:
