Robious Baseball, your 2006 Palomino Champions!!
|
Congratulations to the 2006 Robious Palomino's Team for achieving Robious Baseball's 1st Championship, ever!!!
A great effort and a well deserved ending to a hard fought season. Finishing the Regular Season with a 9 Win - 5 Loss Record, Robious earned the 6th seed in the Double Elimination CBC Championship Tournament. Regular Season losses came from Midlothian (3) and Gordon (2), all close games. Although we came up short during the regular season, we knew we would eventually meet again in the playoffs. Sure enough, our first game was against Gordon. Our Boys came ready to play, and came out on top to avenge our regular season losses. Our second game came against a tough Enon team, that handed us our first loss in the tournament. Rather than packing it in, this made our team hungrier, as we set goals to meet them again in the Championship game. To do that, it meant playing every day, winning out three straight games, just to get to the Championship. Enon would have to win (1). Our third game was against Midlothian. With the (3) regular season losses in mind, our boys came in focused with bats blazing, eliminating Midlothian from the tournament, and moving on to the next round. Our next game matched us up against Crenshaw, and we came out ahead, giving us our second consecutive win. With news Enon had beat Matoaca to make it into the Championship game, the hard road for revenge meant a triple header. Robious would have to beat Matoaca in a 6:00PM game, to face Enon in the Championship game at 8:00PM. Being a double elimination tournament, if Robious won the 8:00PM game against Enon, we would have to play them again at 10:00PM, for the Championship. Never backing down from a challenge, Robious came out strong and beat Matoaca, bringing us up against Enon in the Championship game, giving Robious its 3rd consecutive win. Knowing this time was different and a loss would eliminate us from the tournament, we came out strong and determined, and beat Enon by a (10) run slaughter rule, giving Robious its 4th consecutive win. The stage was now set. Enon had given Robious its first loss, and now Robious gave Enon its first loss. The final game was for the Championship, and what a game it was. The game was played well with great pitching and hitting by both clubs. As the visiting team, Robious came up at the top of the 7th (2) runs down. If Enon got (3) outs the game was over and they get the win. Tired, but determined, our Bucs came up big, and tied up the game. We held the home team, forcing the game into extra innings. The top of the lineup came up in the 8th inning with a second wind, as we scored (3) runs to put us on top. In the bottom of the 8th Enon threatened, but a determined Robious team closed the game out, winning by (2) runs, and becoming Robious Baseball's first Championship team!!!
Great job players, coaches, and parents for all your support and dedication. A well deserved victory!!!
